About

Dr. Amba Pande holds an MPhil and a PhD in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has contributed extensively to research, teaching and academic programmes at the School of International Studies, JNU.

Her research interests include the Indian diaspora, international migration, transnationalism, and gender studies. Her work integrates historical, political, sociological and contemporary perspectives to examine mobility and identity across global contexts.

She is a scholar and expert in migration & diaspora studies and works as a documentation/research officer at the associate professor level.

Dr. Pande has served as Visiting Faculty and Research Scholar at leading international institutions, including Anton de Kom Universiteit van Suriname, Paramaribo, Suriname , the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), the University of the South Pacific (Fiji), and the University of Otago (New Zealand).

She has led major research projects on the Indian Diaspora in Fiji, Myanmar, and Southeast Asia, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR).

She taught courses such as History of Southeast Asia, Society and Politics in the Southwest Pacific, and Politics of Modern Southeast Asia at the MA and M.Phil levels.
